No. Yaps connects to your home WiFi and makes calls over the internet (VoIP). There is no SIM card, no mobile plan, and no carrier contract. You pay a simple monthly Yaps subscription.
If your WiFi drops, Yaps cannot make or receive calls until the connection is restored. It works the same way as any WiFi-dependent device in your home.
Yaps is not designed as a primary emergency device. For emergency access, we recommend keeping a standard phone in the household. Yaps is built for everyday calls to approved contacts.
